The Day I Met The Surprise Baby
Hello, my name is Claire Lecher and I am a Junior at Batesville High School. In my blog post I want to tell you about my little brother Roscoe. When I was at a very young age my parents got a divorce. I don’t really remember when they were together. Many years later when I was about 14 my dad met a girl named Nicole. We all fell in love with her. A year later he asked her to marry her. I was a part of the wedding which was really an honor for me. About a year after the wedding I was told Nicole was pregnant. We were all so excited to add to the family, especially since I absolutely love babies. A few months into the pregnancy she miscarried the baby. We were all devastated. They didn’t give up and soon enough got pregnant again. They decided they weren’t going to tell me the names they had picked out and they also weren’t going to figure out the gender. One morning I came downstairs for school and my dad and Nicole were headed to the hospital the baby was on its way. I refused to go to school. I sat in the waiting room for about an hour later on that day. The hour that I was stuck in there I just kept pacing I was so excited to meet the baby. My dad came out and got me. I walked into the room where Nicole was holding a beautiful baby. I instantly started crying. Shuddering I asked is it a boy or girl and what its name was. It was a boy and his name is Roscoe. I held him with tears running down my face he is so perfect. Roscoe just turned a year old and is beginning to walk. In some ways I still wish he was a little baby.

Hi my name is Ethan Amberger, Within the next year i am going to be going to Stones Farm Service in Greensburg. There i will be working on tractors, mowers, combines. Today i am going to talk to you about farming.
Today in the farming world there is many farmers having to quit farming because of the price. With the price of corn and beans the same price as it was in the 1950s there isn’t many farmers making much money unless they have many hundreds of acer’s to farm. Today on average a farmer spends around $400 a acer when you plant corn. So with the price of corn so low the farmer isn’t going to much but a couple hundred dollars after everything is paid for. But beans they are more money and they take less work because all you do is have to spray them but you get less bushel per acer’s. But since Trump has signed a trade deal with China beans are now almost $8 per bushel and they were down to $7. And corn is almost up to $4 per bushel and they said that since he signed a deal with them now the price is going to keep on going up from now on. China said that we have the cleanest grain that they buy. With Trump doing this a lot of people are going to get his vote in 2020 because without farmers we won’t have anything. People are mad about the stock market dropping 800 points but many farmers are happy because it was a record year and they most likely are going to make a lot of money if the price keeps on going up. If Trump didn’t sign that then a lot of farmers would be having to shut down there passions. Sourdough, in my opinion (everyone else is wrong) is the best bread that has ever been or will ever be, but the sad fact about this almost forgotten dough is that most people don’t even know of its existence. Well one nights a few years ago I was trying to go to bed but couldn’t, so I did what every other teenager would do. I watch YouTube videos and around 3 in the morning I was watching cooking videos (don’t question why) and as I kept switching through recommendations I eventually got to a sourdough video, I believe it was called, How One Woman Became Obsessed with Baking Bread. And throughout the video she spoke so fondly of it. So, my curiosity got the better of me and I forced myself to stay awake to research this and with every video and every essay I read I only got more and more engrossed in this wonderful lost “culture” (that’s a sourdough joke). So after around 3 or so weeks I finally decided that I need to settle down and get myself a starter. So, let’s begin talking about what is sourdough. So, the first bread that were commonly made were only made of flour (grounded up wheat, rice, oats, rye, barley, etc.) and water, it was extremely hard and had an absence of flavor. So, in 3,000 B.C.E. in ancient Egypt (making it over 5,000 years old) people began making the dough early in the morning or the prior day so when they need to they can just throw it in the oven. But this caused an accidental discovery-sourdough. When wild yeast gets in the starter along with bacteria, it starts to eat the flour and drink the water and break it down into CO2 and malolactic acid this causes bubbles and added flavor. This would make sourdough bread the first bread ever to use a levanting agent, creating a softer, larger, easier to digest and more flavorful bread. This whole process is a lot easier than it may sound. All you have to do is mix equal parts flour and water together (by weight) and leave that in a clean, warm area over night, up to two days. Then start “feeding” it every day by pouring out half of it out then replacing the loss starter with more flour and water. By doing this every day wild yeast will get in there and start eating away at it then after 2 weeks it should be good to go. That’s the basics on starting the starter, and when you make the bread you can fell a better connection with it…when you eat it.
Signing off a boy who just wants the best for the best. The best bread I mean, that’s sourdough. Alex Livers The best pizza place to go to has to be Ison’s hands down,. There can be arguments that LaRosa’s or Pizza King is better but personally they don’t even remotely come close to being better than Ison’s. There are two good reasons why Ison’s is the best pizza joint to eat in Batesville. Reason one is that having good, friendly service with the people goes a long way and it does help create the friendly environment that being is produced, also being in a good environment can a make pizza taste even better without you knowing it.
As for the last and final reason why Ison’s is the bomb is that simply because their pizza is the best all-around. They have pizza-sticks, great breadsticks, and even better pizza with variety of toppings or specials. They do make a killer Buffalo Chicken Supreme which is one their better specialty. No matter what kind of pizza you get, it is going to be good regardless. Their breadsticks can be underrated as well, most people think that Ison’s don’t make good breadsticks- you’ve got to unfriend that person because you don’t need that negativity in your life. My name is Jared Eckstein. I’m senior at Batesville High school. I enjoy working on cars or trucks specifically on diesels. Hi my name is Caleb Jenkins, I am going into the air force within the next year to work on planes. I like working on cars and I am here to inform you about the differences between superchargers and turbos for vehicles.
A turbo draws power from exhaust gases which results in combustion, while a supercharger draws power from the engines crankshaft allowing it to spin at around 50,000 RPMs. Turbos spin a lot faster as for they are not connected to the engine and do not draw their power from the engine, just the exhaust. Another thing that is different is that a turbo is harder to maintain but sound a lot better in my opinion and they work better at higher speeds, as for a supercharger is easier to maintain but provide boosts at a lower RPMs on the other hand turbos are also quieter than superchargers which is a pro for turbos. In the end I prefer turbos better than superchargers, one reason is because if you have a strong enough engine you can put anywhere from 1, 2, 3, 4 turbos or however many you want and you can go to big or small sizes depending on what you want it to do. |
