I had an awesome vacation experience in Florida. My girlfriend, her family and I went to Panama City Beach Florida for vacation and it was so fun. There is so many cool things to do and see. What made it even better is that it was on July 4th week so there was always fireworks being shot. The drive to Florida was boring but we saw plenty of cool things but I can only remember a few. We passed a huge peach water tower that was in Georgia or Alabama I don’t really remember but I just remember it being funny. When we finally arrived in Florida it was the best feeling ever because you go outside and it’s so warm and sunny and it’s just the best feeling in my opinion. The condo we stayed in was pretty cool too because it was on the edge of the beach so it wasn’t crowded. I hated the salt water but it was still fun to swim, go boating, kayaking, paragliding and snorkeling. I got mega sunburnt but it was honestly worth it because I got tan and nobody else did. The best of those few things we did was probably the boating because we rented the boat for the whole day and we were boating and snorkeling all around having a good time playing music and occasionally stopping to “swim”. I can’t decide what’s better the food in Florida or the activities we did. The restaurants down there had such good food we went to a steakhouse called “Angelo’s Steak Pit” and let me just say one thing it was the best steak I have ever had. I was thinking of doing this whole blog post about just the steak is how good it was. It was perfect not too chewy but not too tender. The steak was so big and filling that i couldn’t even eat my fries after I finished it i’m surprised I even at the vegetables. The fourth was so cool there was fireworks going off from 9 to 11 pm and even after people were still setting them off. We stayed for 9 days and it was honestly the most fun i’ve had in under 10 days.

YoungLife, most people don’t think the best things about it, but is that the truth? YoungLife is an after school club that happens every Wednesday night at 7:30 at the Rom weber Building. Most people believe YoungLife is dumb and we are just a big group of bible thumpers who sit around and read the bible for an hour and a half. However, these are not true. YoungLife is just a group of teenagers who love having fun. We listen to music and play goofy games. We come together as a community of people who love and support each other despite our differences. We come from different cliques, sports, cities even and enjoy each other’s company. Especially at YoungLife camp. People come from all over the country, from different backgrounds and different home lives, to celebrate each other, and to find a love in Jesus. That is what YoungLife is about. We don’t just sit in a circle and talk about our feelings and read the bible. We have fun we scream, dance, sing, play dumb games, and get to know each other on a deeper level. You will never find better friendships than you find there. Your friendships can grow and flourish in the light of YoungLife. Not to mention the relationships you will get with your leaders, these people will become like a second family to you. Not only that, but people who have gone to YoungLife have said that some of their best memories were at YoungLife. Some of the people who I have met through YoungLife are going to be life-long friends.
Hi, I am Isabella Harvey, I am 16 years old and I am a junior at Batesville High School. I go to YoungLife every Wednesday and Campaigners every Tuesday. I also work at the Sister’s of Saint Francis in Oldenburg. eA few months ago when I was 16 I got promoted to manager. I manage 5 to 6 days a week and get upwards of 33 hours a week. I am the primary closing manager as I am there most days. It’s really hard to keep up with school at the same time as I am expected to do the same as any manager would. I have to wake up at 6:45 am and don’t get to bed until after 11 as I usually have homework. It’s quit hard to keep up with school work as well because of how late I get off as I have to close down and can’t leave until everything is done.
The biggest thing I miss is sleep honestly. My days off all I do is sleep so my social life took a bit of a hit but I get a lot of Fridays off so I can actually do some things like hang with friends or just go to different places. What’s hard right now is we are short staffed so I’m usually doing the work of 2 people which takes a toll on a person but over all I love my job and the people I work with so I’m pretty happy. So today i’m just going to talk really, nothing specific, just talking. So it’s almost been 6 months since i've been with Gabe, and I'm actually happy. My depression still shows and school does bring me down but i’m happy and I’m doing so well. My grades are doing really well, I have really found my true friends and it’s going well this year. I was in a really dark place before I was with Gabe, and all my friends have been so supportive. I’m happy I'm still alive, there was a time where I couldn’t handle the memories or handle anything really, I was broken down. but I stayed strong, and now I'm the happiest I've ever been. I just have to say that it truly does get better, sometimes you will still struggle but it honestly gets better. To anyone reading this, know that even though today really isn’t a good day or a good week maybe, it gets better and you will be happy again. Then another thing: you are beautiful, strong, amazing, handsome, and just perfect in your own way. Everyone is different, and it’s so beautiful, just keep your head up and push forward because it gets better. You are loved and cared for, you amazing human. That’s all I really have to say for today, have a wonderful day and smile.
Bio of Tabby, I’m just someone that’s trying to get by in life. I’m an artist, baker, and writer. I’m not very interesting, but I do like to talk and I can be good at it. I can be funny sometimes and be weird, but hopefully you like what i talk about (I'm insecure). Ok, I think most people are aware of my love of horses, and if not, I REALLY love horses. I give guided trail rides at a horse ranch in Metamora. It’s one of my favorite places to be, but a pet peeve I have when I take people out is when they don’t listen. I take people out for an hour to two hours, and they won’t listen to what I’m trying to tell them. They let their reins drop over the horse’s neck even though I told them to grab them. When that happens, I have to get off and get the reins for them. I once had to get off 4 times for the same person. Another peeve of mine is the people who scream the whole time because their scared. I mean I get that their scared, but not everyone in their group wants to go back so we keep going. I had this one girl she screamed at the top of her lungs the whole time. I would have taken her back, but her mom and the others wanted to keep going. What I thought was weird was when we were almost back, and you could see the barn her screaming increased. I just could not believe it. Except for those few things it is my favorite place to be. All the people I volunteer with are awesome, and there are so many horses. He has around a 135 give or take. It’s a great place to spend your time, and relax when you don’t have screaming people. Horses are my go to relaxation, they don’t ask questions and you can pet their velvety noses. If anyone is interested in trying horses as a relaxation method the place I go is called Salt Creek Ranch in Metamora. They have a website if you're curious. Me summed up is a quiet person who loves to read and horses. I like to work and play sports, and just being active. I’m not the best conversationalist, I’ve been described as an anomaly. I’m just another average kid, I go to school get decent/good grades and try live life to
the fullest while I’m young. One of the necessities in life is money, becoming older by the day equals more responsibility so I applied to work at McDonalds. I knew I had friends working there so I knew off the bat it wasn’t going to be a boring job. Friends, getting paid sounds like a YES to me. Getting to know the environment is an important aspect to find out if you’ll like your job, luckily for me I knew people that worked there so It made it easier for me. After a week or two of working there you’ll get used to it, you’ll know the people better “Who are the cranky ones." I work Saturday-Sundays 6am-12am, I don’t work many hours but for the time being I’m fine with it. I’ve noticed it sucks not being able to sleep in anymore but its whatever, it doesn’t really bother me much anymore since I’m used to it. The job itself is not hard but it can be slightly complicated if your ringing up orders. When I first started out they put me as a ringer (A person who rings up orders) and since then that’s my main role. In my experience of ringing up orders it can be hard, customers usually get angry since your messing up their orders, your slow, etc. After a while of ringing up it’ll become easy I believe I’m pretty fast and consistent with it. Overall, I like working there, I make my money, have my fun, and it’s a good place to work at for starters. In today’s world blame, the assigning of responsibility for a fault or wrong, is the staple
of the way our society works. Current generations blame past generations for creating the problems we have now, and vice versa. Being a part of the post-millennial generation or Gen Z, I see this everywhere, on the news, in schools, or heck even at home. Our generation is the target of the Boomers, Gen X, and the Millennials. We are this decade’s target for the blame game. With that being said we aren’t faultless, we do some pretty dumb stuff, like for example we were a part of the tide pod eating craze. Like come on guys, if we want to gain respect and trust we can’t eat laundry detergent because it looks good. With that said every derogatory remark isn’t exactly warranted. We are constantly labeled as lazy, disconnected, and oblivious. This is far from the truth, in my eyes we are one of the most passionate and motivated generation there is. We band together to solve issues which past generations have been stuck on for decades, and although we can be cruel and carry a dark sense of humor we are more excepting to change. We don’t want to be stuck in a world that discriminates, hates, and excludes. Most of us don’t have the same, sometimes bigoted, views other generations have had. We solve our problems and carry the burden of those before us. Our generation knows what we want, and we have the drive to take it. We understand far more than we are credited for and we live in a time where everything has more than one source from which we can acquire knowledge and our opinions. Gen Z is far from disconnected and oblivious, we know what’s going on in the world at all times where ever we are at a moment’s notice. Having keen knack for going against the grain scares past generation. Our drive is taken as cockiness and entitlement, where it should be looked at as a positive change, a shift in how people think. We are the generation that is leading the human race into a new era of ideology and acceptance, and with this comes the accusation of being weak and thin skinned. We are far from weak, far from thin skinned, we are just far more empathetic and sympathetic. We aren’t here to be molded, we are here to remold and change the way we live our lives as human beings, as people. WE are the ones who will bring about huge change in this vastly evolving world we live in today. WE are not here to sit down and shut up, change is this generations mark on the world. About the author: My name is Ryan Laloge, I’m currently a senior at Batesville Highschool, I love music, videogames, skateboarding, and meeting new people Ever since I was a little girl, I have been seen as a sporty and active person. I started playing soccer when I was about five and I still play soccer to this day along with basketball. Sports and fitness have been one of my main priorities my whole life and high school has not changed that. A majority of my time is spent on sports, while the other little time I have is not taken for granted and spent with my friends and family. Although I have spent most of this already talking about sports, I do need to mention that on top of everything are my academics. I prioritize getting good grades above my social and athletic life.
You are probably wondering where this is going. Well, I just want to say that lately I have been hearing about the stereotype of people who are involved in sports believe they are superior to those who are not or more “popular” than them. I just want to say that I one hundred percent do not believe that my involvement in sports and my athletic ability makes me superior to anyone who does not possess any athletic ability! No matter who you are or what you stand for, you are extremely beneficial to this world and whatever you are involved in takes skill and is appreciated by all. Whether you are involved in drama, theatre, sports, or whatever it might be, you are devoting your time to something you are passionate about, and that is awesome! So, I want to say anyone who believes the people who are involved in sports are the more “popular” people, I do not believe this is true, but I certainly do not think that they deserve to be disliked by other people because of this stereotype. It is so hard to understand how much work these high school athletes put in nearly every day unless you are one of them, and I am here to attest to that. Currently, I am on the Batesville High School Girls’ Soccer Team, and every day of the school week, I have either soccer practice or a game after school. On top of that, I train at Cook Performance one day a week during season, and two days a week out of season with other high school athletes to improve my strength and conditioning. These athletes, including myself, are putting in so much hard work to play for their school and represent the name across their chest every time they compete. It is mentally and physically draining on them, and I do not think some of the people who believe this stereotype can truly understand. Most of these athletes do also maintain outstanding grades in school and are in many other clubs. So, they deserve to be credited for the work they do, as does anyone involved in other activities that they devote a large amount of their time for! You all matter and you all have a purpose in this world and what you are doing in it! In conclusion, I would like to tell you a little about myself. My name is Carlie Werner, and I am a junior at Batesville High School. I play soccer and basketball for the high school, and I play travel soccer for Indy Premier in Noblesville Indiana in the spring. I also plan to continue my soccer career through college, but am still undecided where I will attend. On top of sports, I love spending time with my friends and family. Some of my favorite things to do include going to football games on Friday nights with my friends, going to boys’ basketball games, spending time with my family at our pond, babysitting, shopping, working out, and playing soccer and basketball of course. Here are some pictures of my life:
